Objectives of the Precious Metals and Rhenium Consortium:

  

  • To gather and evaluate (Klimisch rank) all existing available information on all Precious Metal and Rhenium substances and intermediates subject to Registration by one or more Members of the Consortium
  • To investigate means of filling information gaps in light of REACH and CLP requirements, including waiving arguments, read-across, and testing
  • To assess the chemical safety of each relevant substance and allow manufacturers and importers to communicate possible risks and associated risk management measures to downstream users
  • To prepare Registration Dossiers and accompany Lead Registrants and co-registrants Members of the Consortium through a successful registration of the concerned substances and intermediates
  • To develop a harmonised classification and labelling for each concerned substance and intermediate
  • To maintain and update all Registration Dossiers and CLP notifications submitted to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) as requested by Consortium Members or European Authorities (ECHA, National Competent Authorities, etc.)

 2007-2010

Silver project: Preparation of Registration Dossiers of three silver substances
PM Refinables project: Preparation of Registration Dossiers of 14 complex UVCB intermediates
CLP notifications: Preparation of CLP notifications for more than 100 precious metals and rhenium substances and intermediates

2011-2013

Silver project: Preparation of Registration Dossiers of two silver substances and three silver intermediates, and update of 2010 Registration Dossiers.
Gold, Precious Metals Cyanides, Platinum Group Metals and Rhenium projects: Preparation of Registration Dossiers of more than 80 precious metals and rhenium substances and intermediates
CLP notifications: Update of CLP notifications as relevant
Refinables project: Review of 2010 Registration Dossiers in light of updated ECHA guidance on intermediates.
