These substances are being prepared for registration by the Precious Metals and Rhenium Consortium. Based on the declared tonnages Registrations Dossiers must be submitted in 2018. The Consortium has however made a data-gap analysis and has developed an integrated testing strategy in order to fulfill REACH information requirements as from 2011 in a tiered and stepwise manner. The testing programme should be finalized in late 2012. Although so far test results have not identified any environmental or human health hazard, depending on the final outcome of the testing programme and the potential identification of hazards, where a Chemical Safety Report is required, exposure and emissions data will be collected. If no hazards are identified, it will be possible to register the substances and intermediates in scope much sooner than in 2018.
In order to prepare CLP notifications for these substances, available (eco-)toxicological and physico-chemical data has been compiled and evaluated. It was subsequently complemented with additional physico-chemical tests. It was subsequently complemented with additional physico-chemical tests and Transformation/Dissolution tests. Classification proposals were agreed in December 2010 and submitted before 3 January 2011. Consortium Members and Non-Members were invited to agree with the classification(s) submitted through their REACH-IT accounts as required by the CLP regulation. All CLP notifications were subsequently revised against the 2nd ATP to CLP in February-April 2012; all classifications remained unchanged.
Potential registrants are informed as regularly as possible on other activities and data needs of the Consortium by e-mail. As from April 2012, the Consortium will be using REACHCentrum’s SIEF communication tool to send notifications to all pre-registrants. Please make sure you regularly check the e-mail account you have provided with your contact details when pre-registering and becoming a member of each SIEF. If you change this e-mail address, pre-registrants are invited to send an updated .xml of the relevant SIEF(s) to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
