Save the Date: 1st European Permitting Conference by the ICP

On 8 September 2026, the Informal Coalition on Permitting (ICP) will host the first high-level European conference on industrial permitting in Brussels, Belgium: “From Bottlenecks to Breakthroughs: Rethinking Industrial Permitting for a Competitive & Climate-Neutral Europe”.

The conference will bring together representatives from European institutions, Member States, permitting authorities, industry, financial institutions and civil society to discuss how Europe can build faster, more predictable and investment-friendly permitting frameworks.

As Europe seeks to strengthen its competitiveness and accelerate the energy transition, permitting has become a key challenge for delivering strategic industrial, energy and infrastructure projects.

The event will provide an opportunity to exchange practical experiences, discuss policy developments and identify concrete solutions to make permitting work more effectively.

The programme will feature keynote addresses and panel discussions on:

  • Cross-sector permitting bottlenecks and simplification opportunities;
  • CCS value chains and Europe’s industrial base;
  • Renewable and geothermal energy permitting;
  • Practical perspectives from authorities, Member States and industry.

The full agenda and list of speakers will be published shortly. The event will conclude with networking drinks.
