Most companies use chemicals in some way. If you handle any chemicals in your industrial or professional activity, you are responsible for ensuring their safe use under REACH, the EU regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals.
REACH requires that chemicals be handled safely throughout the supply chain. Industry must demonstrate that this is possible and submit Registration dossiers of all substances and their uses to the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA).
The substances registered by EPMF members include their known uses and related Exposure Scenarios (ES) when necessary. They are included in the REACH registration dossiers, and they must be communicated through the supply chain to Downstream Users via the extended Safety Data Sheets (eSDS).
If you are a Downstream User, you need to:
- Ensure that you have received the eSDS for chemicals you use,
- Confirm that it covers your use,
- Check whether the conditions of safe use correspond to the operational conditions and risk management measures implemented at your site.
If your use is not covered, contact your supplier to inform them of your use and provide the relevant information needed to update Exposure Scenarios or contacts us. More information.
EPMF provides the most recent lists of identified uses and versions of existing Exposure Scenarios extracted from the chemical safety reports (CSR) for the benefit of its members, Downstream Users, and potential new co-registrants.
Please go to the Substances page of this website where you will find links to the substances and lists of their identified uses, and the Exposure Scenarios when relevant.
