EPMF is recruiting a Sustainability Manager!

Main collaboration: EPMF Communication Consultant and EPMF Scientific Manager

About EPMF: The EPMF (European Precious Metals Federation) is the Brussels-based association representing the European precious metals industry. The EPMF was formed in June 2006 to set a reinforced working structure aimed at increasing the commitment, efficiency, credibility and legitimacy of the European precious metals industry in all its advocacy activities at European level. The EPMF is a member of Eurometaux.

The core of the EPMF activities is related to Chemicals Management (REACH and CLP compliance for precious metals and their compounds, and rhenium substances) and Sustainability.

Role Overview: We are seeking a Sustainability Manager to lead the sustainability activities of the EPMF at European level. The ideal candidate will excel in fast-paced environments, managing multiple deadlines while maintaining an organized and structured approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Internal information and support:
  • Monitor regulatory developments (mainly in the EU) which could impact the Precious Metals industry and coordinate the update of the EPMF Risk Register. The focus will be on sustainability issues like Circular Economy, Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), Waste, Responsible sourcing etc
  • Manage the EPMF Sustainability platform/work group composed of EPMF members
  • Follow-up on regulatory developments, interact with other non-ferrous metals associations (mainly via Eurometaux platforms), coordinate regular feedback and updates to EPMF membership
  1. External networking and support:
  • Prepare and advocate the EPMF position on legislations identified as a high priority in the EPMF risk register
  • Develop EPMF active advocacy network at EU level with the support of the Communication consultant
  • Participate and represent EPMF in regulatory fora (e.g.: OECD, European Commission, European Parliament, Member States, Eurometaux, Metals National Federation…)
  1. Environmental footprint:
  • Provide adequate guidance to the EPMF membership to ensure consistency when calculating environmental footprint, and potentially conduct Life Cycle Assessment on precious metals
  • Monitor and input at EU level on Environmental footprint activities
  • Provide guidance to the EPMF membership on emerging ESG regulations such as EU Corporate Responsibility Directive (CSRD) and EU Taxonomy

Qualifications:

  • Technical degree (e.g.: engineering, chemistry, sustainability, metallurgist)
  • Proven experience in regulatory affairs roles, with a focus on sustainability. Ideally 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a company is an asset to ensure practical understanding of the related challenges
  • Knowledge on metals specificities (e.g.: recycling) is a plus
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Open and positive personality
  • Data management and analysis skills
  • Strong team player with a proactive, hands-on approach and attention to detail
  • Highly proficient in English and additional EU languages are a plus
